Andalusia is divided into eight provinces (Almeria, Cadiz, Cordoba, Granada, Huelva, Jaen, Malaga and Seville, the capital) where the official language is Spanish. All of these provinces are under the protection of the regional flag, which consists of three horizontal bands, the middle one white and the other two of green color.
Since 1981, Andalusia is an autonomous community, with a 109 seat Parliament chosen every four years and an autonomic government: The Junta de Andalucia. The local administration is formed by the diputaciones, of provincial domain and the ayuntamientos, which govern at a local level. Andalusia has a 7.3 million population, about 18% of Spain's population with a density of 84 inhabitants per square kilometer (Spain 79inh. per sq. km.)
